Our Pastor
Bro. Joe Ortega was born Nov.23, 1964 in Monterrey, N.L., Mexico. His father Jose Antonio brought his family to San Antonio, TX. in October 1973. The family had a Roman Catholic background. In October 1988 Bro. Joe Ortega was saved at a Baptist church which did not preach the Doctrines of Grace. He and his family visited Community Baptist Church where the Doctrines of Grace were preached. A year later his family was sent out with two other families to help start Hillburn Drive Grace Baptist Church where Bro. Joe Maldonaldo is the pastor. Bro. Joe Ortega started teaching Sunday school classes, preaching when the pastor was absent, preaching in Bible Conferences in Mexico and also helping in the jail ministry in the Spanish language. Bro. Joe Ortega was ordained to the ministry in Sept. 1994 and served as an elder at Hillburn Drive Grace Baptist Church. He began having Spanish services in the fellowship hall in 1997. He was sent out along with three other families to establish Iglesia Bautista Particular de la Gracia Soberana in May 2001, under the blessings, prayers and support of Hillburn Drive Grace Baptist Church. Bro. Joe Ortega is married to Pearl, and has four children: Eric Joseph, Abraham, Pearl Elizabeth, and Joanna Marie.
